Bloomington, IN– Engineering technology students from Ivy Tech took a tour of TASUS on Tuesday. On the tour students were able to observe day to day operations along with receiving a presentation by Brett Wagnon covering the Toyota Production System (TPS) and the culture at TASUS. This was great opportunity for TASUS to interact with talented students that are interested in manufacturing. The tour allowed students to see first hand who we are and what we do. TASUS is glad to continue to grow and strengthen our relationship with Ivy Tech.

Bloomington, IN- April 22nd was the annual O’Bannon Institute Day of Service. Ivy Tech requested that businesses in the community partner with them by having employees volunteer time to help reach Ivy Tech’s goal of 1000 hours of community service, in a single day. There were several volunteer opportunities for employees to choose from. In total over 1,200 hours of volunteer work were completed in a single day, which equates to an economic contribution of over $28,000.

We had many employees donate their time for this year’s Day of Service. Cindy Welch helped make bee houses for the community orchard and Ryann Christy made catnip toys for the humane society. Jay Wilson got his hands dirty planting flowers in Ellettsville and mulching at Edgewood Intermediate school with Judy O’Bannon. Ms. O’Bannon is the former First Lady of Indiana and her late husband Frank O’Bannon is the inspiration for the O’Bannon Institute Day of Service.

Carey Marks and Larry Mackey both volunteered at the Warehouse setting up for a cancer benefit boxing event. KayLeigh Duerksen mulched at The Rise, a branch of the middle way house. Heather Krout painted the dining room at Becky’s Place and organized donated clothes. She will be going back later this month, along with several other volunteers, to put a second coat on.

This was a great opportunity and an amazing way to get involved in the community. Thank you to all who volunteered!

Georgetown, Texas- Ricky Graham has been with TASUS for nearly two years. Ricky likes that as a buyer he is closely involved with cost savings. It is very important to him to be a cost effective buyer, which aligns great with our lean manufacturing principle. Ricky also loves his TASUS family.

In his free time Ricky likes to play slow pitch softball, as well as race RC cars with his son. His special talent is his skill at being a handyman, he used to work as an appliance repair man before joining the US Army.

Ricky’s dream vacation would be to go to New Zealand to see the amazing scenery. His favorite food is bacon, or pretty much anything with bacon in it or on it! His all time favorite movie is the 13th Warrior starring Antonio Banderas.

Ricky is married with two children, his wife Nicole, daughter Joyce and son RJ. The person that inspires Ricky most is his mother, as she raised him on her own.

Thanks for being a great part of our team Ricky!
