Bloomington, IN– TASUS Corporation and Tsuchiya Group North America are sponsoring the Bloomington South Robotics Team for the 2016 competition season. The team, Quadrangles, competes in the FIRST Robotics Competition. This competition allows students to have hands on experience in a variety of fields such as engineering, design, project management, business and teamwork. With the help of mentors, students design and build a life size robot to compete against other teams across the United States.
The Quadrangles are entering their 6th year of competition. The district competition begins in March and the Indiana state championship is April 14-16. The world championship will be hosted in St. Louis, MO from April 27-30th.
The Quadrangles team is comprised of 25 students and they put in about 30 hours each week working on their robot. The team meets everyday after school and for about 10 hours each Saturday. The team’s hard work has paid off, as in past years they have captured several awards.
In 2011, the Quadratics team won the Midwest Regional. In 2014 they were second place finalists at the Queen City Regional in Cincinnati, OH. Last year, they finished 6th at the Indiana State Championship. All alumni of the team have gone on to four year universities in mostly STEM related careers.
Good luck at this year’s FIRST Robotics Competition!
